What Can You Do?

  • HOW YOU CAN HELP

Citizens Allied for Safe Energy, Inc. (CASE) is totally focused on you.  CASE was formed to serve your interests by providing you with scientific information so you can understand the threats to your physical health which Turkey Point and FPL powerlines represent.  Also, CASE will represent your interests by presenting this information to elected officials and governmental staff in writing and at public meetings and by visiting them in their offices to inform and educate them regarding the true nature of nuclear energy and the problems related to producing it.  It was and is because of public apathy, disinterest and in-action that most of the problems we see today in our public governance exist.  In fact, they count on your not being informed and involved so they can pursue their own interests and the interests of those who support them financially.

So, what can you do? You can do what big business and self-serving officials expect you NOT to do.  You can become informed, educated and involved.  Then you can speak out through phone calls, letters and emails to federal, state and local government, to newspapers, TV, radio, and blogs, about your concerns and your demand for change, for more rational and science based planning and decisions, for safer and more economical and creative ways of producing and delivering energy.  You can show up at public meetings and hearings and express your concerns.  You are the instrument through which CASE will achieve change in the way FPL does business and serves you and not only their bottom line.

CASE will provide you with the tools you need to understand what has happened and is happening, which can affect your health and your pocketbook.  Our website has already become a major source of information on energy, its mismanagement and its proper management.  By visiting and reading it often, you will inform and educate yourself.   Our emails directly to you will call important matters to your attention, which require and demand your immediate action.  We will suggest messages and to whom they should be directed.  We will tell you of the results of our scientific research and the findings of others.   We will report corporate and governmental mismanagement and abuse, as well tell you about successful methods and systems being used elsewhere.   You will learn of lawsuits that CASE initiates or of financial support we have provided for other non-profit organizations such as Tropical Audubon, Clean Water Action, Sierra Club, and Friends of the Everglades that bring lawsuits or work toward the same goals.  And, if FPL and the Public Service Commission and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and/or your elected officials and public servants ever get it right, you will hear about that from CASE also; it should only happen.

So with your support, your energy and a little of your money, CASE can make a difference.  We have knowledgeable and dedicated scientists donating their time; we have a volunteer Board of Directors and members who spend hundreds of hours on the work required to achieve our goals.  So join us, inform yourself, support us and tell your friends what you have learned and get them involved.  Do what others expect you not to do.  By becoming a member you will receive our emails regularly and you will assure that CASE has the resources to do what must be done.  Thank you, in advance; make us proud of you.
